Winry fixes up Ed’s automail before Kimblee talks with him, ordering his men to keep Al seperated from him. Olivier sends a search party down the tunnels, who find a couple of survivors warning them not to put any lights on. Riza learns that Bradley’s son, Selim, is a homunculus named Pride who attacks from the shadows. Kimblee orders Ed to search for Scar and Marcoh and create a bloody crest similar to Ishval in Briggs, tempting him with a Philosopher’s Stone if he accepts. After telling Al and Winry all about it, he grudgingly accepts the job, though doesn’t intend to use the stone himself. As Ed and Al go to search for Scar, their real intent to find Mei as well, Winry decides to accompany them.

Olivier and her crew manage to subdue of Sloth by dousing him in oil and sending him outside to freeze. Olivier then has Ed and Al arrested so she can learn more about the homunculus. Kimblee, who is in the hospital, is visited by Lieutenant General Raven, who brings along another alchemist who uses the Philosopher’s Stone to heal his wounds. Meanwhile, Marcoh continues to look into alkahestry, with May teaching him about how the flow works…

Deciding not to mention anything incriminating, they mention their search for May, leading Olivier to be interested in alkahestry. They are given some work by Major Miles, who is part Ishbalan, and also run into Falman. Just then, another homunculus named Sloth appears from underground, and Olivier is surprised by his invulnerability…
